In Best of N, two teams do not play just a single match but a whole series. With 4 teams, this creates a knockout tournament over 2 rounds with 3 series matchups. In a Best of 3, that means between 6 and 9 games – over several matches, a single bad game carries less weight.

Because every matchup is a series, the duration depends heavily on how the series play out. How long a best-of tournament with 4 teams takes is mostly determined by the number of fields. The values show the pure playing time for an average series length – plan extra time for breaks. The average assumes a medium series length: a clear result (e.g. 2:0 in a best of 3) is shorter, a deciding game makes the series longest.

Best of N means two players play a series of up to N games. Whoever wins the majority first (e.g. 2 out of 3) wins the series. The series ends immediately when the required wins are reached – not all N games are necessarily played.
The most common are Best of 3 (2 wins needed), Best of 5 (3 wins needed) and Best of 7 (4 wins needed). Generally: for odd N, (N+1)/2 wins are needed. The series ends as soon as a player reaches that number.
Best of N is ideal for table tennis, darts, badminton, esports and many other sports with short individual games. Important: Turniermeister evaluates generic series (game 1, game 2, …) – sport-specific sets, legs or maps are not automatically mapped.
Yes! Once a player has reached the required majority (e.g. 2:0 in Best of 3), the series is automatically ended and the next opponent in the bracket is assigned. No further games of that series are shown.
With 4 teams there are 3 series over 2 rounds. A series ends as soon as a team has won 2 games. That is at least 6 games (every series decided by the shortest winning run) and at most 9 games (every series played to its full length). If the number of teams is not a power of two, some teams get a bye in the first round.
A Best of 3 series lasts between 2 and 3 games: whoever wins 2 games first takes the series. Across all 3 matchups that adds up to 6 to 9 games in the whole tournament.
