Knockout or league for eight teams?
The same eight teams, two suitable formats. The table compares the example plan, number of games and guaranteed appearances. The times are an example assuming 20 minutes per game and 2 fields – not automatic time or field planning.

Lower bound = games × game time ÷ fields, with rounds or matchdays run one after another. Changeovers, breaks and rest come on top; this page does not promise a fixed end time.
Knockout fits when the tournament day should stay short and an early exit is acceptable.
League fits when all eight teams should get as many games as possible and more time is available.
