What is a combined time trial with 24 participants?
In a combined time trial, 24 participants complete several scored runs – 3 rounds are recommended. Unlike best-time scoring, all recorded times are added together: it is not the single perfect run that counts but the lowest total time across all rounds. This rewards consistency rather than one lucky run. As in any time trial, the 24 participants never face each other directly – everyone races against the clock on their own, and the ranking comes from the sum of the recorded times.

Time Trial - Combined with 24 participants: how scoring works
Combined scoring differs from the other time-trial variants in that all 3 runs are added together – not the single fastest run, but the lowest total time decides.
Aspect
Rule
Runs per participant
Several scored rounds (3 recommended)
What counts
Sum of all run times (total time)
Ranking order
Ascending by total time – the lowest sum leads
Tiebreaker
Fastest single run decides, then the second-fastest
Missed run
Counts as a maximum time – consistency across all rounds is rewarded
How long does a combined time trial with 24 participants take?
How long the combined time trial with 24 participants takes depends on the number of parallel lanes and the run duration. Because every round is scored, the pure running time adds up across several runs – plan extra time for start intervals, timing and breaks.

What is a combined time trial with 24 participants good for?
Combined scoring fits wherever consistency across several runs matters: with 24 participants all runs are added into one total time – ideal for multi-events, stage races, rallying, biathlon or alpine combined. A single slip costs time but can still be made up over the remaining runs, and in the end the most reliable overall performance wins.
Each participant completes multiple runs, and all recorded times are added together for the ranking.
When should I use combined scoring?
Use it when you want consistent performance across all runs to matter more than one standout result.
How many runs can I record?
You can record multiple runs per participant. Turniermeister automatically sums them up.
Do participants see the overall ranking live?
Yes. The total ranking is recalculated automatically after every run.
How long does a combined time trial with 24 participants take?
It depends on the number of parallel lanes. With 24 participants and 3 scored runs each, the pure running time is around 9 h on 2 lanes and about 4 h 30 min on 4 lanes – each excluding start breaks.
How are ties resolved?
If two participants share the same total time, the fastest single run decides. If that is also equal, the second-fastest run counts.
