How a double elimination bracket with 4 teams plays out: up to 7 matches across winners and losers bracket – every team gets a second chance.

In a double elimination tournament a team is only out after two losses. All 4 teams start in the winners bracket; teams that lose drop into the losers bracket. The undefeated winners-bracket champion meets the losers-bracket champion in the Grand Final. If the losers-bracket champion wins that match, a reset match follows; otherwise it is skipped. The format therefore has 6 to 7 matches, almost twice as many as a single knockout, while giving each team a second chance.

A double elimination consists of two brackets: in the winners bracket all 4 teams play out the first finalist over 2 rounds (3 matches). Anyone who loses once drops into the losers bracket for a second chance over 3 rounds. Including a possible reset, the losers bracket and Grand Final have up to 4 matches, or 7 overall; without a reset, each total is one match lower.
