In the Swiss system, all 12 players compete over 4 rounds – 24 matches in total, with 6 running in parallel per round. The key difference from a knockout: nobody is eliminated, every player plays all 4 rounds. Round 1 is drawn at random or by seeding; from round 2 on, players with similar scores meet each other – producing consistently fair, closely matched games. The number of rounds 4 (the base-2 logarithm of the player count, rounded up) is enough to determine a clear winner despite the small number of games. If players are level on points at the end, a tiebreaker such as the Buchholz score (sum of opponents' points) decides.

Pure playing time depends on the number of parallel fields and the game length. The games of a round run in parallel, the rounds run one after another. As nobody is eliminated, every round takes the same time. Plan extra time for breaks, setup and teardown.
