In a single-run time trial, 4 participants get exactly one scored attempt – no repeat, no drop time. That one stopped time alone decides the placement, which makes the format especially quick to organise and creates an instantly understandable ranking. Unlike the multi-run variants there is no second chance: a strong run is rewarded immediately, a slip cannot be ironed out. The 4 participants run against the clock one after another, and the ranking comes straight from the recorded times.
Single-run scoring differs from the other time-trial variants in that every participant has exactly one scored run – no attempts to pick from, no sum and no average, just that one time.

How long the single-run time trial with 4 participants takes depends on the number of parallel lanes and the run duration. Because everyone completes just one run, this is the fastest time-trial variant – still plan time for start intervals and timing.
